Stephen Timms MP To Launch SIGMA

Press release: 27 August 2003

Stephen Timms MP, Minister for Corporate Social Responsibility, is joining a host of prolific business speakers at this year's SIGMA (Sustainability: Integrated Guidelines for Management) Conference 2003, the world's first systematic approach to business sustainability. This is being held at the Institute of Electrical Engineers, Savoy Place, London on 26th November 2003.

Other speakers include Jonathon Porrit of Forum for the Future, Simon Zadek of AccountAbility and Sir David John KCMG, chairman of BSI.

The heavy weight participants signify the importance of the conference, which is further demonstrated by the involvement of the companies, including Marks and Spencer, Vauxhall Motors, Boots, and British Airways. Interactive workshops will provide an understanding of SIGMA guidelines and involve members such as ACCA, Innogy, RMC and Northumbrian Water.

The conference marks the success of the SIGMA project and highlights the issues of integrating sustainability in management systems, in the key areas of society, environment and economy. Delegates stand to benefit from the practical experience offered by these players and understanding the role SIGMA has already played in strengthening their approach to continually improving management systems.
